CONNECTICUT
KATE GOMBAS   Drama Instructor -  Hartford County

Kate has received a BA in Psychology from the College of Saint Elizabeth and is currently working towards her MA in School Counseling at Saint Joseph College. She has been involved in many theatrical endeavors, including theater instruction, community theater, and children's theater. She also studied acting for two years at Arcadia University in Philadelphia. Favorite shows include King Lear the the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, Women and Wallace at Arcadia University Theater, and The Pirates of Penzance with the Hilltop Players. Kate is very excited to be able to share her love of acting with young performers!
DANIELLE PROCACCINI    Drama/Dance Instructor - Hartford County

Danielle recently graduated from Salve Regina University with a degree in Theatre Education, and is very happy to be coming back to Connecticut where she grew up and came to love the performing arts. She has both performance and technical theatre experience. Some on-stage credits include Cabaret (Kit Kat Girl), Guys and Dolls, 42nd Street, My Favorite Year, and Wonderful Town (featured dancer) with the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival. Her favorite backstage credits include Little Women (Assistant Stage Manager) at Salve Regina, and Singin' in the Rain, Happy Days, and 1776 (Properties Run Crew) at the Goodspeed Opera House. Danielle is thrilled to be a part of the PAP team and looks forward to learning together with the students.

HILLARY EKWALL   Drama Instructor - Hartford County

Hillary recently graduated from Skidmore College with a B.S. in elementary education and a minor in music. As an undergrad, she was active in chorus, orchestra, dance and in the pool as a member of the swimming and diving team. Her passion for musical theatre was instigated by the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival (SAF). This program provided her with the opportunity to learn to dance, act, and belt out a show tune! It has given her the drive to perform and she has been seen in the last ten shows as a featured dance, Chava in Fiddler on the Roof, and Anytime Annie in 42nd Street. Recently Hillary has been substitute teaching and trying to take her performing to the next level. She has been dancing with Stop/Time Dance Theatre in CT and auditioning as much as she can. Most recently she has been seen at the Ivoryton Playhouse as Gilmer in Godspell. Hillary believes in being a life-long learner and as well as an enthusiastic optimist and tries to encourage other students as well as fellow performers to be the same. We all have more to learn! "What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music, for giving it to me."
DENISE HADYKA    Drama Instructor - Hartford County

Denise Hadyka is a graduate of the University of Hartford where she studied Drama and Communications.  For the past four years, Denise was employed as a Fine Arts teacher in CT where she specialized in Music, Art and Drama.  While she enjoyed her classroom experience, Denise's true passion is with theater.  She has directed several children's productions in addition to pursuing her craft through acting and singing.  Denise is absolutely thrilled to be an Instructor with Performing Arts programs where she can help children explore their talent and develop their love of the stage. 
TAYLOR NOBLE    Summer Office/Teaching Intern/Acting Instructor

Taylor is currently a student at Pace University in New York City where she is pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. In high school, she attended the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts where she majored in Voice and Theatre. She has been studying and performing theatre for about 12 years and has loved every minute of it. Some of her favorite on-stage credits include Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Rizzo in Grease, Fantine in Les Miserables, and Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress. Most recently, Taylor performed at Schaeberle Theater (New York City) in their production of Bare, where she played the role of Nadia McConnell. She has also worked in the recording studio as a singer/songwriter in her spare time. Taylor is very excited to be a part of the Performing Arts Programs team where she can share her love of the arts with other performers!
DANIEL BRANDL    Assistant Musical Director - Bushnell Summer Programs


Daniel Brandl has been playing piano for the last eighteen years. As a teenager, he studied with Rebecca Davis at the Hartt School of Music. Later, he continued with jazz pianist Peter Tomlinson at the burgeoning arts school of Western Connecticut State University. In 2006, he was asked to play keyboards with the Blake Cody Band for the David Foster/NBC production “Star Tomorrow” for which he recorded at Burbank Studios in Los Angeles. Recently, Dan’s Latin-jazz quartet was featured in an episode of NBC’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent. He received a B.M. in jazz studies and piano performance Cum Laude in 2007. Since graduating, Dan has furthered his studies with Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer and flutist Oriente Lopez. He has studied composition with Emmy-winning composer Hummie Mann as well as Jonathan N. Kupper. He has also studied arranging with the Charlie Parker award-winning composer Jamie Begian.  He has had the honor to perform with Jimmy Green, Conrad Herwig, Carl Allen, Christian McBride, and Paquito D'Rivera among others. Currently, Dan is the resident Musical Director for the Spirit of Broadway Theater in Norwich, CT.  He continues to serve as a pianist and audition accompanist for local children’s theaters in Newington, New Canaan, Danbury, Milford and Hartford.
BECKA LAZUR    Dance Instructor - Tolland County

Becka Lazur has studied and taught dance throughout New England and New York.  She began her training at the Northeast Academy of Dance, where she studied both Vaganova and Cecchetti methods, and currently teaches ballet and original choreography to children ages 4 to 19. Becka has performed in the full-length productions of Coppelia, Les Sylphides, Midsummer Nights Dream, dancing the role of Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty, as well as the lead in Cinderella.  Additionally, Becka has studied at several dance intensive programs including the American Academy of Ballet and the American TheatreDance Summer Workshop.  In May of 2008, Becka earned her B.S. in Communication from Eastern Connecticut State University.  During this time, Becka represented ECSU at the collegiate level dancing at different events including the 5X5 Dance Festival at Saint Joseph College and performances at the Welte Theatre at Central Connecticut State University.  Becka has also been a company member of the Albano Ballet Co. of Hartford, CT for the past four seasons.  She has performed several roles in Albano’s Nutcracker at Mohegan Sun Arena in addition to innovative and Graham inspired modern choreography at both the Cabaret Theatre at Mohegan Sun and area elementary schools.  Becka also has experience teaching ballroom dance at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Bloomfield, CT where her students have earned first place awards in competition and performance.  Becka’s passion for dance has driven her to continue working with children in the performing arts where she do her part in educating and inspiring the next generation of dancers and performers.
CAROLYN CUMMING    Acting/Dance Instructor - Tolland County

Carolyn Cumming is a recent graduate from the University of Connecticut with a BA in theater and minors in music and sociology. A West Hartford native, she attended Conard High School and the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts for dance. Her love for musical theater developed through the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival performing in favorites Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof and 42nd Street. She was also involved with the Connecticut Repertory Theater at UConn most recently seen in Hair. Carolyn has taught at Hartford Children's Theater and Hartford Stage and is very excited to teach at the Performing Arts Programs!

TOM CREATORE   Drama Instructor - New Haven County

Tom is from Milford, CT and is a Kindergarten teacher in Bridgeport, CT. Tom graduated Summa Cumme Laude from New York University with a BA in Musical Theatre (Cap 21) and Education. He later received is Master's degree in elementary education from the University of Bridgeport. Tom's love for the stage began at the age of 12 starring the Hartford Stage Production of FALSETTOS. This lead to many more profession endeavors, including 14 months with the National Touring Company of "FOOTLOOSE Other stage credits include ALL SHOOK UP, A CHORUS LINE, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL and THE WHO'S TOMMY. Tom recently directed and choreographed productions of THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLE (Goshen Players), HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (Bristol Theatre Arts) and BLUE'S CLUES: THE MUSICAL (Thomaston Opera House). Tom's television credits include THE SOPRANOS, ONE LIFE TO LIVE and SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. "Being able to share his love for performing with aspiring students is a true gift. I look forward to every minute of creativity!"

MEREDITH ROLL    Dance Instructor - New Haven County

Meredith has a B.A. in Drama from the University of Hartford and is a recent graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.  She has been working in the theatre as director, actor, and choreographer for 12 years.  Some of Meredith's favorite on stage credits include Marian Paroo in The Music Man, Sally Brown in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Rita in Prelude to a Kiss, and Sara in Stop Kiss.  Most recently, Meredith performed in New York City's "Tomorrow's Broadway Today."  She has directed and choreographed youth theatres in Connecticut including Saint Rita School, Seth Haley School, Seymour Middle and High Schools, High Lane Junior Footlighters, and the University of Hartford.  Meredith was the dance instructor and choreographer for Hamden Art Commission's Youth Theatre Camp for three years. 
Meredith is currently a head teacher at Dance by Leslie Studios in Madison, CT as well as That's Showbiz! Theatre-Dance School in Shelton.  Meredith is a proud member of AEA.
  Meredith is very excited to be working with the Performing Arts Program again this year.

LARA MORTON    Acting Instructor

Lara native of the CT Shoreline. Ms. Morton graduated Daniel Hand High School in Madison and went on to study Theatre Arts Playwriting at both Hartwick College and the State University of New York at Oneonta.  Lara’s most noteworthy accomplishments/positions include: Drama Teacher of the acclaimed New Haven charter school Amistad Academy, The Tabor Arts Community Arts Center in Branford, Turkey Hill School in Orange, New York state’s B.O.C.E.S. and Evergreen Alternative School , Co-Producer and Public Relations Coordinator of ‘Branstock’, the annual free charity music and arts festival on the Branford Town Green (currently in its 10th year),  Artistic Director and Playwright-in-Residence of Yale-based Teen Pregnancy Prevention program The Open End Theater Company, Program and Education Director of Young Audiences of CT (Y.A.C.), co-Playwright/Creator of Prudence Crandall; Woman of Courage (a one-woman educational theatre piece commissioned by The Anti-Defamation League of CT and Y.A.C., touring Connecticut schools in Black History Month for over 12 years), creator of The Peacetown Puppet Players in Binghamton, NY (a musical theatre puppetry program aimed at teaching Violence and Bullying Prevention to grades pre-K to 5th grade), and former Program Director for the Broome County Mental Health Players (a program of the Mental Health Association, Binghamton, NY), a touring role-play/psychodrama company using volunteer actors and non-actors to address “social, psychological, and professional issues of import to the community.”

Lara Morton has also completed an original stage adaption of Kate Chopin’s classic American feminist novel ‘The Awakening’ (1899).

 

ELISE A. MURPHYMULLIGAN    Drama Instructor - Middlesex County
 
Elise is a local teacher and actress. She is currently teaching theatre, children's theatre and speech communications in many schools throughout Fairfield County, as well as writing numerous children's plays. Elise studied acting at Boston University and then went on to study educational theatre and psychology at New York University. While attending school in New York, She studied with a number of reputable teachers in Manhattan, as well as receiving a scholarship to study at HB studios in Greenwich Village. She has her Masters in Teaching from Sacred Heart University here in Connecticut.

Elise also teaches theatre and writes children's' plays with TigerTale Theatre and with Stamford Theatre Works' School for the Performing Arts, which she helped in creating and establishing more than ten years ago, Elise has taught theatre arts with The Boys and Girls Club of Stamford and at The Urban League. She also redesigned the educational program of Dr. LivingSound, an in school assembly program, for The Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk, for which she performed as Dr. LivingSound for a time.  Elise has appeared in numerous Off-Broadway productions, several films, commercials and music videos. Elise is thrilled and excited to be joining the wonderful group of professionals at Performing Arts Programs, Inc.
MADALYN SHEEHY    Drama/Dance Instructor - Middlesex County

Madalyn is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University where she has a B.A. in Music History and Theater Performance. She has been working intensively in theater as an actor, dancer, and choreographer for the past 5 years as well as studied ballet, tap, jazz, and other various forms of dance since the age of 4. Her credits include: Cabaret (Rosie), Our Town (Mrs. Gibbs), Pippin (Lead Dancer), Best Little W.H. in Texas (Angel), The Music Man (Ethel Toffelmier), Leader of the Pack (Lead Dancer), Barnum (Dancer/Stilt Walker), Man of La Mancha (Fermina), The Grass Harp (Maude), The Graduate (Elaine). Madalyn’s education experiences include assistant-directing and choreographing for Starmakers, a youth theater group at the Connecticut Cabaret Theater in the past two years.

PAUL AGUIRRE  Dance/Drama Instructor - Fairfield County

MICHAEL J. SGRIGNARI    Drama Instructor

Michael is a recent graduate of Emerson College and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Acting and Theatre Education.  For the past several years Michael has been working in the Boston area as an actor, scenic artist and stage manager.  He has also served on the Board of Directors at the Winthrop Playmakers who have been named "Best Theatre Group in Boston" two years running.  Favorite roles include "John Proctor" in Arthur Miller's The Crucible and "Bernardo" in West Side Story.  Michael has also been nominated for the Eastern Mass. Association of Community Theatre awards for his Set Dressings in The Full MontyJoseph...Dreamcoat.  Michael has previously worked with children at Kidstock Creative Theatre in Winchester, MA and is very excited to be joining P.A.P. and bringing the joy of acting to young people here in CT.

SHANNON BOLCER   Drama Instructor - Fairfield County

Shannon is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama. Studying with the CAP21 Musical Theater Conservatory, she was trained in singing, acting, and dance. She has performed in many great venues in NYC, and some well-known theaters in the Connecticut area including Long Wharf and the Westport Country Playhouse. Recently, she has been involved in many children's theater companies in the area, including Downtown Cabaret Children's Theater and the Fairfield Theatre Children's Company and is very excited to continue to work with children and share her love of the performing arts.

TOM PETERSON    Drama Instructor/Program Assistant - New Haven, Middlesex, and Fairfield County


Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and Speech and attended the Herbert Berghof Studios in New York City for acting, directing, voice and script writing. A few of his teachers have been Austin Pendleton, Charles Nelson Reilly, Morris Carnovsky and John Fearnley (director/stage manager for Rogers & Hammerstein).As a director, Tom has worked on over 100 shows ranging from Shakespeare to Neil Simon and Sondheim. The more than 200 stage shows that he has acted in or directed have spanned Off-Broadway to College to regional to high schools. Most recently, Tom directed his own original play, “Peace Now,” in the Manhattan International Theatre Festival in New York City. He has been seen on television in a faux news report with Stephen Colbert on the Daily Show. In addition, Tom has taught acting to students from adults to grade school, including working with the Shubert Theatre in New Haven. Currently, Tom is a Professor of Communication at Southern Connecticut State University. He is married and has two children.

FRANK BORRELLI   Drama Instructor/Program Assistant - Hartford and Tolland County

Frank is an actor, director, educator who believes that the arts unite us all. Frank holds an MFA in Theatre/with concentrations in Directing & Theatre for Social Change from Rhode Island College in Providence, RI and has lectured both at Rhode Island College and Roger Williams University. Frank possesses teaching experience in theatre at the college, high school, and elementary school levels and is always amazed at how much he learns from his students. Theatre is Frank's greatest passion and he hopes to continue to be a positive influence in the lives of young theatre students. Frank is excited to be working with Performing Arts Programs and is grateful for the opportunity.

KATHRYN SEETHALER    Dance Instructor

Kate Seethaler recently received her B.A. in dance from Springfield College, where she also completed minors in theatre and philosophy. As an undergrad, she was an extremely active dancer, actor and choreographer. From a young age, Kate trained in classical ballet and performed extensively with Brass City Ballet Company (Waterbury, CT). She has since danced for many peers, faculty and guest artists at such places as ACDFA New England (Boston) and Built on Stilts Dance Festival (Martha's Vineyard). Kate has also worked with Judy Dworin Performance Project, slipperyfish dance, The Dance Academy of Somers and Camps Mataucha and Cuno. Her SC theatre credits include roles in Under Milkwood, The "A" Project, Fuddy Meers (Claire) and Black Comedy (Carol). She will be performing at many festivals in the New England area this summer in addition to teaching with Performing Arts Programs. Kate is extremely excited to share her passion for dance with her students this summer!

KATHLEEN MAHAN    Drama Instructor

Kathleen attended the Tatnall School in Wilmington, Delaware and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. As a performer she appeared at the Carousel Dinner Theater in Maine, the Shubert Theater in New Haven, and the National Musical Theater Network in New York. She has also performed with many children's theater companies throught the Northeast. Kathleen is the stage director of the Westchester Girls Choir and directs the children's cantatas at the Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, NY. She is very excited about working with the attending children of Performing Arts Acting Classes.
DANIEL SARNELLI    Drama Instructor

Daniel has worked in the professional theater for the last fifteen years. As an actor he has worked with numerous companies including The MCC Theater, The Long Wharf Theatre, The Shubert Theatre, The Mill Mountain Theatre, The Allenberry Playhouse, The National Theatre of the Performing Arts, Elm Shakespeare Company and many others. His most recent work includes roles on Law & Order (the 300th episode) and All My Children. Daniel is one of our talented instructors and is very excited to be working with the children again this session!

TAYLOR DONOFRIO   Drama Instructor

Taylor Donofrio, a recent graduate from Manhattanville College, has a BA in dance and theatre with a concentration in dance. Most recently she has worked and danced with Pucci Plus Dancers, as well as directed and choreographed her own performance, Automaton, at Manhattanville College. Her dance background includes Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Tap, and Flamenco and she has studied dance around Connecticut including Northeast Academy of Dance. In recent years, Taylor’s passion for dance has brought her to work with Choreographers; Chris Elam- Misnomer Dance Company, Peter Pucci, Wally Wolfgruber, and Neta Pulvermach as well as inspired her to choreograph her own pieces in Manhattanville’s Dance Productions. Some of her theatrical work includes such productions as The Sandcastle at Eastern Connecticut State University, Little Jokes and Happy Endings, as well as going abroad to London to study Theater.  Taylor is also a part of a new and emerging Improvisation group based out of New York. Taylor’s love for Dance and Theater has brought her to Performing Arts Programs in recent years and she is excited to once again teach children all that she has learned in the arts.
KRISTY CHAMBRELLI    Drama Instructor

Kristy Chambrelli has mounted Operatic and Musical Theatre productions throughout the United States and Europe. She was the program Opera Director for the Asolo Art Song and Aria Festival. She has directed for many universities and colleges including Worcester Polytechnic Institute, New England Conservatory, and Florida State University. Ms. Chambrelli worked on the NBC/BBC Holiday Special, Clash of the Choirs with the New Haven Choir. She just returned from a summer directing 4 shows for the prestigious Long Lake Camp for the Arts in upstate NY. She holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory and studied Opera Directing at Florida State University School of Music. Some of Ms. Chambrelli’s upcoming engagements include: The Threepenny Opera for WPI in MA, Seussical in Fairfield, CT, and the Cast Album for Witchwife: A Requiem for Susannah Martin in Buckinghamshire, England.

 


JP MATTHEWS   Drama Instructor


JP loves to teach and work with children of all ages. He has taught acting for Rutgers University, CYT National Youth Theater, various private schools and youth theatre organizations, and also maintains a private practice in Manhattan. JP is currently undergoing a Master Teacher Mentorship with Scott Miller in NYU’s Graduate Acting Program.

 

Originally from Kansas City, JP has been acting professionally for 15 years and has performed off-Broadway with the Blue Man Group in New York City, The Dallas Theater Center, Kansas City Rep, Casa Manana in Fort Worth, TX, and Amphibian Stage Productions, a theater company that he has been a member of for 8 years. JP has also starred in national and regional commercials, feature films, and industrials. JP received his MFA in Acting from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and his BFA in Acting and Musical Theater from TCU. JP is represented by The Meg Pantera Agency in NYC.

TASIA JONES   Drama Instructor

Tasia A. Jones is a recent graduate of Boston University's School of Theatre where she earned her BFA in theatre arts. She has taught theatre to grades K-8 in the Edward Devotion School of Brookline, MA. Her most recent acting credits include ANTON IN SHOWBUSINESS, STUFF HAPPENS, and the Boston premiere of THE BLUEST EYE. She is excited to be teaching in her home state of Connecticut where she discovered her love for the performing arts.
MARIA DOUGLAS   Drama Instructor

Maria has over 20 years experience in the creative art industry, from singing in a show band to theater to television. Her enthusiasm in working with children led to the creation of her company The Magic Storybook & Creative Arts LLC where she had brought theater, music and reading enrichment programs to Connecticut schools and private organizations for the past eleven years. Not one to sit still, Maria founded and is also president and artistic director for the very successful Bethany Playhouse. She has collectively produced, directed, written and acted in over 23 theater productions.
SARI GAGNON   Drama Instructor

Sari is a life long student of the arts in all forms. With a Bachelors Degree in Performing Arts from Kenne State College in the area of theater, dance, and film, she specialized in acting and directing in college, and pursued a minor in technical theatre. Sari then went onto some post-grad study at the world famous Circle in the Square Conservatory on Broadway in NYC, under the tutelage of such instructors as Jackie Brookes and Allen Langdon. She also studied with Ken Schatz, at ActorTec in the areas of physical improve, movement, and mask work. Sari also took screen test work shops with Dawn Wells.

Sari's experience in performing ranges from theatre shows, to commercials, to feature films and shows. She is involved with SECT (South East CT) film maker's group, the RIFC (RI Film Collaborative) and works closely with producers in Boston, Hartford, and Providence. Sari has performed in dozens of independent films all over New England.
BRYAN SMITH   Dance Instructor

Originally from Longview, Texas, Bryan began his dance education at Longview High School where he was a member of the LHS Viewettes Dance/Drill Team for 3 years, serving first as a line member, then as a Junior and Senior Lieutenant. He then attended the Hartford Conservatory in Hartford, CT, where he was an active dancer, performing at ACDFA College Festivals in Boston and Williamstown, MA, the 5x5 Dance Festival (Collegiate Showcase), and the Ted Hershey Dance Marathon. He graduated in 2007 with a Diploma in both Dance Pedagogy and Dance Performance. While in Connecticut, Bryan was a founding member of SOMA, a Hartford-based modern dance company, and performed with them in 2007 and 2008 at the 5x5 Dance Festival Professional Showcase. He has also danced as a guest artist in the Hartford Conservatory's "Jazz Nutcracker" and Woodbury Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker." Recently, he attended Miami Dade College as a Dance Major. Currently, Bryan works with HTE Dance, a Texas-based dance company, as a dance instructor and choreographer, choreographs privately, and performs as a guest artist in TX, CT and FL. He returned to Connecticut in 2009 to continue his dance education and perform with SOMA.
MEREDYTH AREGOOD    Drama Instructor

Meredyth is a former Hartt School of Music student where she majored in Music Theatre.  She also attended the Greater Hartford Academy of Performing Arts and has been an active member of the Wethersfield Teen Theatre Company for 18 years.  She currently works as a professional vocalist singing with several bands in the Greater Hartford area and NYC.  She has been a stay at home mom for the last four years and is very excited to join Performing Arts Programs.  She is looking forward to working with all of you this fall!
LEENA MACK   Drama Instructor

Leena Mack became heavily involved in theatre in college and minored in communication/theatre.  As a member of a traveling, improvisational theatre troupe that performed for children, she led workshops for high schoolers.  In 2006, Leena founded Performing Arts Theatre for Homeschoolers (P.A.T.H.) in Western Mass where she teaches theatre classes, directs, and produces plays throughout the school year for homeschooled students ages 3 to high school.

KATHERINE SCOTT   Drama Instructor

Katherine Scott is a recent graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she majored in English and Theatre. While at Wake, Katherine performed as a member of the Lilting Banshee Comedy Troupe in their annual on campus performances as well as their act for The Chicago Improv Festival and their opening act for Lewis Black.  Her productions at Wake also included "Enemy of the the People" and "Old Saybrook."  She spent a semester at an intensive program in London studying both Contemporary and Historical British Theatre. Since returning to Connecticut, she has been taking acting classes and substitute teaching.
SCOTT KEGLER   Drama Instructor

Scott is a local actor/director who has worked in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and NYC. Most of Scott's work has been on stage but he has also performed in several independent films, but performs mostly in interactive and educational theatre. He holds a degree in Performing Arts from Eastern Connecticut State University, and has also studied Asian Theatre in Wakayama, Japan. Scott is very excited to share his wealth of knowledge with people of all ages.
KARINA MAESTRE    Drama Instructor

Karina completed her B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at The University of Hartford. You may have seen her at the recent Hartt School production's of On the Town (ensemble), Mariel (Tia Carmen), and Once on This Island (Andrea). She also participated in the Goodspeed Musicals Festival of New Artists in January, were she played Snooky in the new musical Genesius. She is very excited to be working at PAP this summer!

CHRISTIAN SHABOO    Drama Instructor


Christian is a recent graduate of Quinnipiac University with a degree in English and concentrations in Sociology, Media, and Theatre. Christian took on many various roles in the Quinnipiac Theater including: Romeo and Juliet (Balthasar), Playboy of the Western World (Jimmy Farrell), The Beggar’s Opera (Matt of the Mint), and Dead Man Walking (Hilton Barber) Christian has also been involved in other various Quinnipiac performances including Don’t Throw the Tomatoes, a sketch comedy variety show and numerous Quinnipiac Dance company performances.


CAROLYN PAINE    Drama/Dance Instructor

Carolyn holds a BA in Drama from University of Hartford where she earned stage credits including The Philadelphia Story (Tracy Lord), Measure for Measure (Isabella), Conduct of Life (Leticia), Noises Off (Brooke), as well as roles in The Laramie Project and As You Like It. She also has studied acting at the Chelsea Rep Lab in NYC working with the Actor's Project. Carolyn also has an accomplished dancing career that has taken her all over the world performing with several choreographers and companies, most recently in her native Boston in the popular Urban Nutcracker with BalletRox. In addition to featured roles in independent films, commercials, and print work, Carolyn has performed with Shakespeare Now Theatre Company in Boston, with Square One Theatre in Stratford, CT, and has toured with Classical Player's production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. In CT, she has been in The Crucible with New Works (New Haven) and was in The Foreigner with Park Road Playhouse, where she was nominated for a 2007 Milo Award for Best Actress in a Comedy. When she is not performing, Carolyn has taught dance and drama passionately throughout New England with Performing Arts Programs, Park Road Playhouse, and The Dance Center.
MATTHEW PRICE    Drama Instructor

Matthew received a Master of Arts in Theatre from The Theatre Conservatory of the Chicago College of Performing Arts. He also has earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the Pennsylvania State University. While working as an instructor in the Advanced Learning Program of the Greenwich Public Schools, Matthew taught Shakespeare and theatre skills to both third and fifth grade students. Presently, he is the Theatre Arts teacher for the Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School in Madison, Connecticut, working with fifth and sixth graders in the development of fundamental acting skills, through a focus in Greek Mythology and Theatre. Matthew has appeared on stage locally and in several theaters in Chicago. Some of Matthew's most memorable roles have been Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls with the Podium Players, Sebastian in Twelfth Night at the Hole-In-The-Wall Theatre, Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees at the Thomaston Opera House, and Deely in Old Times at the O'Malley Theatre in Chicago.
CESIRA FARRELL    Drama Instructor

Cesira Farrell is a currently graduating from The New School with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre and a minor in Psychology. She is also currently working on a certificate in Music Therapy from the New School's Creative Arts Therapy Program. Cesira is a graduate from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy where she studied in their Intergrated Program in New York City. She has been performing in musicals and singing in various choirs in both High School and College and has performed in regional and community theaters as well. For the past 8 years she has been studying voice with Pamela Hoffman of Brookfield, Connecticut as well as other vocal professionals in New York City. Her credits include Kiss Me Kate (Kate), Macbeth (Lady Macbeth), Fiddler on the Roof (Tzietal), Esther, The New Musical (Esther), and Footloose (Mrs. McCormick). Cesira enjoys working with children and hopes to combine her passion of music and theatre with psychology to provide an alternate therapy for developing children and adolescents.
NICK CHECKER    Drama Instructor

Nick Checker, graduate of the University of Connecticut (BFA), has written a number of independent films that have been produced and shown in cinemas and made successful film fest rounds throughout the country. Nick has also written a controversial historical play, "Elegy For An Icon," that premiered at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, CT -- and was later adapted for use in an Emmy award winning documentary, "Mystic Voices." In addition, he wrote a play that was published by Eldridge Publishing, Florida -- "Kangaroo Court," a dark satire where animals put humans on trial. The play continues to be produced in various sectors of the country every year.
 
Most recently Nick wrote the screenplay for a supernatural film based on an old historic legend, "The Curse Of Micah Rood,""Welcome Back Kotter" TV series. Firesite Films premiered the film at Niantic Cinemas in Niantic, CT last December and it has been shown a number of times at cinemas and at prestigious film festivals. The next screening is at Olde Mistick Village Cinemas on October 30th, 2008.
Nick has performed in numerous plays and independent films and also teaches writing and acting to students in an age range including children, teenagers, adults, and senior citizens. He takes pride in the knowledge that a number of his students have gone on to utilize the crafts of writing and acting in their own pursuits.

KRISTIN LATTIN   Drama Instructor

Kristin earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater from Shenandoah Conservatory of Winchester, VA. She has been involved with several theatrical education/theater for youth programs including Summer Arts at the Cabaret-Downtown Cabaret Theater, Summer Cabaret with Maureen Hammill- Sacred Heart University. She was recently involved with Prometheus Fire theater co. founded by Ray Ahrahna of "Fences", and is currently involved with Fairfield Theater's theater for youth company. Some of her favorite roles include: Donna-Swimming in the Shallows- Long Wharf Theater; Ellen- Snow Pressings- Palace Theater; Hortence- The Baker's Wife- Shenandoah Conservatory. Kristin is also trained in Ballroom and Latin Dance and taught for Maria Fiora's dance studio in Stamford, CT.
KELLY SHAMBURG    Drama Instructor

Kelly is a recent graduate of Quinnipiac University where she received two degrees, a BA in Theater for Community and a BA in Film Production. During her time there she performed in many Main Stage shows some of which include, Dead Man Walking, The Beggar’s Opera, Medea, The King Stag, and Quilters. She is also very active in the theater for social awareness community as she has been a part of the new works Whitewashed and Gathering Shells. Behind the scenes, in costuming, hair, and makeup, is also an enjoyment as she worked on Berlin, As You Like It, and Quilters, in these departments. She has been in front of and behind the camera on numerous occasions and loves both the stage and the set equally. Kelly also has 12 years of gymnastics training and competition, and studied voice under Diane Aquino for 5 years. She is very excited to be a part of this program and cannot wait to get started.

LIZZ PETRAKIS    Dance Instructor

Lizz received her Bachelor's degree concentrating in Human Services from the University of Connecticut. She has been training dance for 20 years at Top Hat Dance Academy in her home town of West Haven, CT where she excelled in jazz, tap, and lyrical.Under the direction of Diane Esposito and Sharon Minnix, she became a member of award-winning competition lines for 10 years. Lizz also studied various jazz styles under Christine Gambardella and Jean Sabatine at the University of Connecticut, where she had the opportunity to choreograph a number of solo, duo/trio, and small/large group dances. Some of her most well-known choreography pieces were featured in an independent study project, during which she was also a principal character in Jessalin Newbury's, Love and Learn jazz story. Lizz had the opportunity to choreograph the musical A Little Night Music for UConn's Huskies on Stage. She was invited to dance in the UConn Asian American Cultural Center's hip hop group for various performances in 2006 and 2007, as well. She was a member and Co-practice Coordinator of the UConn Tap Team and became the President of the UConn Tap Club. Lizz taught advanced jazz classes for the Hawley Armory in Storrs, but when she is not formally teaching, she still spreads her love of dance to anyone willing to learn. She is continuously trying to improve her technique and broaden her horizons by taking master classes at the Broadway Dance Center in NYC.
KEELY KNUDSEN    Drama Instructor

Keely received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and her Master’s Degree in Drama from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. Keely has performed as a singer/dancer/actress/choreographer with Cornerstone Productions’ on-going variety musicals and Elm Shakespeare Company. In addition, she has performed in musicals, classic and contemporary plays, ballets, puppet shows, operas, jazz concerts, mime shows, on-camera, in symphonies (bassoon), and behind a radio microphone. Highlights of her performing venues include the Public Theatre, Long Wharf, Carnegie Hall, and the Edinburgh Festival. Her directing credits include Playing for Time, which was ranked #1 in the state of Utah in 2001. She has held a position as faculty in the theatre department at Quinnipiac University since 2002. Keely will be directing the world premier of Erik Orton’s historical musical The Drummings at the Long Wharf Theatre this fall as well as appearing at Carnegie Hall a third time in an Alexander Nevsky concert.

MARIAH SAGE LEEDS    Drama Instructor

Mariah is a professional actress and teacher. She earned her MFA in acting from Brown University and her BFA in Drama from NYU. Mariah has performed with theaters across the country including; The Cleveland Playhouse, Trinity Rep (Providence, RI) and The Public Theater (NYC). Mariah has taught acting to grades 1-12 as well as to University students at Brown, NYU, and Quinnipiac University and she is very excited to be working with the children of Performing Arts Programs this session.

DAVID McCAMISH    Drama Instructor

David has performed and directed throughout the US. He has taught acting and produced shows in NYC for the past six years. Recently he was seen on the boards in the Off-Broadway Comedia Del Arte Production of St. Arlecchino at the Lucille Lortell Theatre. Other recent Off-Broadway and NYC productions include the World Premier of Unbecoming, Measure for Measure, The Lark, Hamlet, Waiting for Godot, Henry V, Terkels' Race and The Boys Will Be the Boys in which David co-wrote and played the role of Stan Laurel. Some of his other Film credits include: Kate & Leopold, Private Parts, Looking for Harrison, Jungle to Jungle and HBO's Path to Paradise.

KIMBERLY WEST    Drama Instructor
 
Kimberly has acting, directing, film and television credits to her name. In Atlanta, she worked for the Alliance Theatre Education Department for 13 wonderful and rewarding years. Here in Connecticut, she has directed several staged reading and short plays, including Women of Roswell, which performed at the American Globe Theatre in New York. Kimberly is delighted to be working with children again this session.

DARLENE VILLANOVA    Drama Instructor

Darlene holds a B.S degree in Communication with a minor in English from ECSU. She also has an A.S degree in Media from MCC. She was trained in acting through the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute of NY. Darlene has worked as a local DJ for Radio Disney Hartford and as a freelance actress for 20 years. Her credits include both local and international commercial work, along with numerous television and film roles. She is an award winning writer and director who most recently won the 2007 Hartford International Film Festival.

RHODE ISLAND
DANIEL LEE WHITE    Drama Instructor

Daniel is a graduate (BA in Mass Communication and a Minor in Theatre Arts) of Franklin Pierce College, New Hampshire and currently resides in Providence with his fiancée Kerri and their super rabbit named Emily. A native New Englander, Daniel Lee White developed an early obsession with the performing arts—both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes. His extensive experience focuses on acting, directing, editing, and teaching. He has completed many creative roles in films such as Casting Doubt, The Miskatonic Acid Test, McMulligan's Hovel, and Walking Shadows. At the age of twenty-one, he starred in Blood Wedding—an off West End theatrical performance in London. His other director credits include Used Books, an official selection for the 2007 Rhode Island International Film Festival, and The Pitch, which won awards for Audience Favorite and 2nd Runner Up.
From 1997 through 2000, he created and directed Reality Check—a theatre troupe at Franklin Pierce College that presents moving skits on teen issues to local schools and community centers. Since 2005, he has also served as the Professional Coordinator and Directing Mentor of summer theatre workshops for the cast of Reality Check.  Finally, Daniel teaches acting classes for children throughout New England for Performing Arts Programs and filmmaking to youth in Woonsocket, Rhode Island through NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley.
COURTNEY JONES    Dance/Drama Instructor

Courtney is a Theatre Performance Major at Rhode Island College. She has worked in and around Boston, Providence and Connecticut as an Actor, Model and Dancer. Although she loves the stage, her focus is on acting for film and television. She can be seen in Spyglass Entertainment's 27 Dresses as Jane's Bridesmaid and as a waitress in Showtime's hit series Brotherhood. She has many independent film credits and has participated in the 48 Hour Film Festivals and the National Film Challenge. Her on screen credits include the comedies Movers and Makers and Left in Charge, the Sci-fi thriller The Pitch, directed by Daniel Lee White, the horror films Hiding Humans, Harmony, Rashomon in Pear Shape, The Bordon Home, as well as student projects such as the University of Rhode Island's Student Film Association's Happenstance. Projects in the preproduction include the comedy Bocce.

As a Theatre Major, Courtney has many stage credits including Rhode Island College's main stage production of Twelve Angry Women as Juror Four, the Community College of Rhode Island's production of Mary Brigit Poppelton Writes a Memoir, as Rene, an official selection of The Fringe Festival in New York City. She has also acted with Daydream Theatre Company in numerous original and well received shows.Throughout her performance career, Courtney has taken time to give back as an instructor, primarily in the performing arts and dance.


HEATHER KIELY    Drama Instructor

Heather has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah University. She's had extensive experience teaching children’s theatre classes for the past five years in NYC. This summer Heather worked with kids at All Children's Theater and was the Director of the ACT Summer Academy. She continues her teaching locally in different after-school programs throughout the state and is excited to join the Performing Arts Programs team.


MASSACHUSETTS
ADAM RICCIO    Drama Instructor
 
Adam is a professional actor and singer with a passion for teaching and coaching. He is a graduate from Emerson College with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Along with teaching credits at Boston Children’s Theatre, The Neighborhood Music School’s Audubon Arts Summer Program, and Emerson Summer Stage, Adam created a Drama Club at the Horace Mann Elementary School in Melrose, Massachusetts. Some of his favorite roles include Urinetown (Officer Barrel), Cabaret (Ernst Ludwig), A New Brain (Richard), Hello Again (The Senator), The Cradle Will Rock (Harry Druggist), Sideman (Al), Shoot the Bull (Carrington Villmont), and The Zoo Story (Jerry). During the summer of 2005, Adam worked as an intern for River Rep, a summer stage company on the Connecticut shore, where he worked as an actor, carpenter, assistant stage manager, and assistant director. He is thrilled to be a part of the Performing Art Programs family.

LAUREN ANNALDO    Drama Instructor

Lauren is currently attending St. Lawrence University and is looking forward to finishing her senior year with a BA in Performance and Communication Arts and a minor in Gender Studies.  During her time at SLU, she has worked with students teaching them acting skills and educating them the importance of the arts. Lauren was able to work alongside professional actors such as the winner of the 2008 Best Playwright, Clay McLeod Chapman. She has recently directed the annual murder mystery, The Deadly Brief Case and a 10 minute play, I Know Your Crazy, Taj say’s so. She hopes to continue to work and be involved with theater while also working with children professionally.

KIMBERLY MOCHEN    Dance Instructor

Originally from Ashby, MA, Kimberly began her dance training at Tami's Dance Connection in Leominster, MA where she was a member of the nationally recognized competition team.  She then trained at The Gold School in Brockton, MA under the direction of Rennie Gold.  While a student there, she had the opportunity to study under such notable dancers as Rhee Gold, Naileh Bellinger, Kathy Kozul, Larry Sousa, Kenny Wormald, Tyce Diorio, Chris Judd, and Mia Michaels.  In 2002, Kim was a member of the U.S.A. Dance Team, representing the United States at the World Showdance Championships in Riesa, Germany.  Currently, she can be seen performing and choreographing for Rainbow Tribe: the Dance Company out of Boston, MA under the direction of Mary Mazulli.  In addition, Kim is a member of the 2009 Lady Wolf Pack performing for the Arena Football2's Manchester Wolves.  Kim is also an adjudicator for such national dance competitions as Sophisticated Productions, Turn It Up Dance Challenge, Olympic Miss Dance, and Dance U.S.A.  She is a nationally sought after teacher and choreographer and enjoys traveling the country to work with children of all ages.  Kim is beyond excited to be working with Performing Arts Programs this summer and looks forward to an amazing experience!

JACQUELINE SEREBRANI-KESNER    Drama Instructor

I am an interdisciplinary arts educator, drama specialist, theatre director, playwright and writer. In addition to teaching, curriculum development and private consultation, I have lead artist-in-residency programs Off-Broadway, in regional theatre, for public and private schools and universities. My work spans cross-cultural populations including students with learning differences. Much of my work also focuses on social issues that have deep significance for students at all strata of society. I am currently Director of Creative Arts Enrichment, an interdisciplinary arts company that provides residency programs, teaching training and individual and group consultation/workshops. I am also a Creative Director at Auracana; a film, television and digital marketing/content development company. I received my bachelors from SUNY/Loughborough University UK, and a Master’s degree from Emerson College, Boston, MA. I believe students of all ages learn best through a thoughtfully guided process that ignites their interest in learning. When a teacher carries an enthusiasm and interest, so too will their students.  I strive in my work to wake people up, to really see…to live fully, to love learning completely, from the inside out.

LEAH FINE   Drama Instructor

Leah is thrilled to be joining Performing Arts Programs Inc.  She is currently a first year drama teacher at the Wellesley, MA public Middle School. Prior to this, for three years, she split her time between running the Community Academy of Theater at the Walnut Hill School in Natick and as an outreach drama and dance teacher in the Boston Public Schools. Leah also teaches, directs and choreographs in and around the Boston area at different performance venues, such as the Stoneham Theater and Arlington Children's Theater.  In her "spare" time she performs as well.  Leah received her BFA in Acting from the University of Connecticut and recently finished her MA in Theater Education from Emerson College in Boston, MA. 
 
BETH REARDON    Drama Instructor
 
Beth attended Northeastern University as a Theatre Major and graduated from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City. She is currently in her senior year at The New School University for Musical Theatre, and wishes to pursue a Master’s degree in Theatre Education. Recently, she has toured the country with Chamber Theatre Productions National Tour and worked with The Gurnet Theatre Company on their productions ofDog See God and Autobahn. Some of her credits include The Winter’s Tale (Paulina), Funeral Parlor (Susan), Rumors (Chris Gorman), and Irene (Irene O’Dare). Beth has been teaching theatre since 2001 and is thrilled to bring her enthusiasm, skill and passion for the stage to Performing Arts Programs.

DAVID DACOSTA  Drama Instructor

David is a local special education teacher and actor. He currently teaches special education and theater arts at the Blake Middle School in Medfield, is the Director of the Children's Summer Theater program for Bay Colony Productions at the Orpheum Theater in Foxboro, and holds the position of Resident Scenic Artist for Westwood High School's theater department. David has studied acting and directing both in Minneapolis, MN and in NYC. For the past 10 years he has been performing in and directing adults and children's theater throughout the Greater Boston Area with such theaters as Boston's Company One, Bay Colony Productions, Turtle Lane Playhouse, The Footlight Club, Walpole Footlighters, NCT, Newton Country Players, Little Theater of Fall River, Mill River Dinner Theater, Community Players, Actors Collaborative, ACT, among others. An accomplished Set Designer, David has received numerous awards and nominations for his work (both in performance and in set design) for shows including: Into the Woods, Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Diary of Anne Frank, Romeo and Juliet, Jesus Christ Superstar and others.

KACEE STAITI   Drama Instructor

Kacee graduated from Stonehill College with a BA in Communications and a minor in Elementary Education, where she was actively involved with the Stonehill Theatre Company (both on and off the stage). Kacee has experience as a performer, assistant director, assistant stage manager, props master, sound/light board operator, and costume coordinator. She has taught acting classes for the Operatunity Performing Arts Center and The Orpheum Academy, and serves as a member of the Executive Board for The F.U.D.G.E. Theatre Company of Boston/Wakefield. She was recently nominated for two “Distinguished Achievement and Special Honors” awards from the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres for her supporting role in The F.U.D.G.E. Theatre Company’s production of the musical I Love You Because, (a Boston area premiere production) and for her work as Co-Props Master for a production of Bat Boy: The Musical. Some of Kacee’s favorite performance credits include: Into the Woods (Little Red Ridinghood), The House of Blue Leaves (Bananas Shaugnessy), Urinetown (Little Sally), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Protean). Kacee is excited for the opportunity to share her enthusiasm and love for theatre as a teacher with Performing Arts Programs.

AMY SONNANSTINE    Drama Instructor


Originally from Michigan, Amy is a recent arrival to New England. She studied Theatre and French at Wittenberg University, spent 3 years with the Missoula Children’s Theatre, and has traveled all around Europe. She was most recently in productions of Brigadoon and The Gondoliers. In her modest amount of free time, she loves to run, bike, swim, and learn and teach languages. She loves living in the Boston area, and is very excited to be working with Performing Arts Programs.

NATALIE ROY    Dance Instructor

Natalie holds her B.A in Musical Theatre, with a minor in Dance from Plymouth State University. She was seen in many productions at PSU, including Seussical (Gertrude McFuzz), Guys & Dolls (Adelaide), Anything Goes (Reno), Urinetown Cabaret (Kost/Fritzie). Other regional Credits include Wizard of Oz (Dorothy), Annie Get your Gun, Full Monty (Susan), BIG (Susan), and Miss Saigon (Ensemble). She has been choreographing  and teaching dance all over New England for 8 years now, and was Dance captain/Assistant choreographer for many of her college performances. She was also part of  PSU's Dance Ensemble for three years. She has been singing all through out high school and college. She earned herself first Alto in the state of N.H, and was part of Women's acapella at PSU. Natalie recenltly got off of her first tour of 42nd Street at the Tropicana Casino Resort, in Atlantic City. She was cast as Lorraine Flemming, and was the understudy for Peggy
Sawyer. She looks forward to working for this program!
