What's Happening at the Summer Project:

Monday July 16th: Welcome to the first day of the Performing Arts Programs Summer Project of Willy Wonka Jr!  Today was a day of warm-ups and introductions as well as team building exercises.  After lunch we did a read through of the show, handed out some parts and worked on music and blocking before we did a wrap and had a parents meeting.

Tuesday July 17th: What a very exciting day it was today!!  We did a lot of work in the morning hours including more music rehearsals and blocking.  After lunch we had a very special Broadway guest artist come.

Sherry Boone has graced the stage in many productions on Broadway, National Tours and International performances.  She came and performed the song "Climb Every Mountain" from the Sound of Music  that ended in a standing ovation from our participants.  She then took some time to talk about her experiences and answered questions.  She even stayed around to help with the rehearsal process.  It was truly a "sweet" experience.

Wednesday July 18th: What a busy day today was!  Lots and lots of choreography work. Can you believe that it is only day 3 and the participants have already mastered all the dances for the show!  What an unbelievable cast we have this year.

Thursday July 19th:  Today we had join us a young performing guest artist.

Eli Baker at just the age of 10 has recently made is debut at the Goodspeed Opera House where he performed in 100 shows as Young Patrick in MAME.  Prior to that he spent the holiday season at the Hartford Stage starring in A Christmas Carol.  Eli also spent the last two summers at Camp Broadway where he performing in Alice In Wonderland  and State Fair. He studies in NYC, performs regionally with BackBeats City's BackLash Show Choir and trained in Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap and Break.  He performed the song "My Best Girl" from the musical MAME and was given a standing ovation by participants.  He then answered questions and gave he point of view about his experiences in NYC and at the Goodspeed Opera House.

Friday July 20th:  Today we had our first official "stumble through" of the whole show.  It has only been one week and the participants already have the whole show set.  We also had a chance to sit and watch the South Windsor One Week Program perform for us and their family and friends their end of the week performance.  They did a wonderful job.

Monday July 23th:  Welcome back!  We open in only 5 DAYS!  We continued to work through the whole show and began to really polish up the blocking and the choreography.

Tuesday July 24th: Today we focused a lot on polishing up the big finale of the show.  It is going to be AMAZING!

Wednesday July 25th:  Props and costumes are on the agenda for today as we open in 2 DAYS!!!!  Make sure your tickets are ordered.

Thursday July 26th:  Que to que today!  Working with lights, sounds and costumes.  We open TOMORROW!!

Friday July 27th:   3 AMAZING performances today from and SPECTACULAR cast and crew.  What an amazing 2 weeks this has been.  Meeting new people, learning new skills and having an experience that will forever be remember.  Thank you to the cast and crew of Willy Wonka Jr for all of your hard work.  Thank you to the parents of our participants and to the instructors who helped make this show possible.

Summer Project Parents Speak Out:

The cast of the Performing Arts Summer Project did an absolutely amazing job!  The program was professional quality.  The program's huge success was a direct result of Michael Lamb (what a talented director!) and his talented-caring staff who all gave 110% to build the student's skill, confidence, and most of all their self-esteem. This was an experience my daughter will remember forever. FABULOUS!
- A Happy Parent
