THIS WEEK'S ACTIVITIES

EAST GRANBY

Energetic full-group dances, and several select scenes and monologues performed by the children in smaller pairings. Between our rehearsals the kids play a variety of theater-oriented games, and also participate in warm-ups and quick acting and dance exercises such as how to warm up their voices and have better and healthier vocal projection (volume), and how to count music as a way of remembering choreography. The two evident favorites for games have been "What Are You Doing?" which is an improv game, and Museum (the statue game) which is like Red Light, Green Light, but with characterization.

WINDSOR LOCKS

Improving scenes, playing games, dancing and working on their skits! We will continue to work on the dance routine where everyone can show off what they can do and what they've learned!

HEBRON

Monologues and short scenes from the Performing Arts Group materials; a dance number from "Aida," the Broadway musical, with music by Elton John; a demonstration of an improvisation, with all the children involved; and a final song from the musical, "Mama Mia."

WILTON

At the beginning of the week we played a lot of getting to know you games, and learned the fundamentals of the stage. I.e stage right, stage left. We are now working on our final share which includes two group numbers and every child is in at least one scene, monologue, or song. Everyone is very excited for the final performance.

IPSWICH

Improving scenes, playing games, dancing and working on their skits. Some of the skits include Charlie Brown, some monologues, and non-scripted scenes with robots, monsters, and unfortunate run-ins with glue! Some even involve using the actors as props, like telephones! We will continue to work on the dance routine where everyone can show off what they can do and what they've learned.

SOUTH WINDSOR

Acting: improv games, learning stage directions, voice & movement,
learning how to portray emotion, building characters and scene work.

Dance: learning to listen to music & follow rhythm, basic jazz dance
moves, learning to tell a story through dance, and choreography.

Some games include: wax museum, freeze dance, detective, patterns and
the human knot.

TOLLAND

Monologues  from the Performing Arts Group materials; a dance number from "Guys and Dolls," the Broadway musical, and a final song and scene from the musical, "Annie."

My Daughter Samantha Loved the Program, the no pressure style and really loved the instructors. They made her feel welcome and unique!!! Really Really nice people. I think it is a week she will always remember. WE have been attending these camps now for about 5 years with my older daughter first and now with Samantha .The value is great, price wise, and the value experience wise is wonderful . Thank you Frank and Hillary for giving my Daughter Samantha a wonderful experience. She is still talking about it!!! – Windsor Locks parent

We just got home from the completion of the Performing arts summer camp program. Just so you know, my daughter enjoyed it so much I just finished signing her up for the fall acting classes! You all  did a wonderful job and we were really impressed with the kids performance today! Hats off to you!
Karen N, Bethel

I just have to let you know that my daughter is learning so much and loves your camp. She has been spending the week in Southington with her auntie and attending camp so she is experiencing two emotions and when ever we talk she has so much excitement in her voice...thank you. I miss her so much so I am glad she is happy. I can't wait to see what they have for us tomorrow.
– Southington parent

My daughter said that this was her favorite camp ever. She had a terrific time and she was so proud of herself. Your team does a great job of making the kids feel really good about themselves! Thanks so much for a fun week! – Brookfield parent

My daughter loved the program. We couldn't believe how much they learned in one week. The end of the week production was GREAT! Thanks again, wish it was a 2 week program! Or more! Portland parent

I have 2 girls there. They both love it and said that they want to go back next year! The instructors are great with them.
Tracy Y

lt has been very helpful for her to gain knowledge of stage presence and voice projection. It has given her a better understanding of how many pieces there is to the theatre production puzzle. I think that she is even more hooked on performing! The instructors seem to be very involved with each of the skits and exercises that the kids are learning. The program itself appears to be quite organized and the lessons are focused on the specific objectives of the summer camp program. She is having a great time with this program, and although she has not mentioned one specific instructor, I have to give credit to them all for doing a fantastic job! The job they do reflects upon the program as a whole!  Great job everyone! I know that my daughter would love to continue with your program to perfect the skills that she has currently.
Hamden Parent

If the camp was offered for a second we, I would sign my daughter up. She has participated in many camp types, and this is her favorite!
